About Keelan -The Full Story

I’m Keelan Wendorf, a professional magician, illusionist, mentalist, and comedian. I fell in love with the art of magic in the first grade seeing a magician perform for the first time at my elementary school. He invited me on stage to assist him in an illusion of his, and it was the moment like that that I would like to share with you all when I perform. At the end of his performance out of the the other children that assisted him on stage, he pulls me aside and gives me a half dollar. Now I don’t remember what he exactly told me but to this day I still have that half dollar in my room and that’s how it all started. After that I began performing math magic and beginner tricks to family and very close friends.

It was around middle school where I broke the mold of being shy and began performing for the public. I started by approaching people on the street and open mic nights at local art studios. My first stage show was for my godmother’s son and even though the stage at that time scared me it was addicting in itself, I wanted to get on that stage again.

High school hits and I had gained myself a mentor who pushed me to perform on stage. Some of my bigger shows the both of us did at this time were the Whiting Community Center for the Halloween Parade, South Shore Cultural Center, and Whiting’s World Famous Pierogi Festival Kids & Main Stage. Around the middle of my senior year in high school I got a little break and appeared on CNN, which most of the school found out. from there I made the school newspaper and graduated.

I didn’t waste any time and immediately jumped into college. I met a lot of great contacts where I would perform for Chicago Laugh Factory, Ronald McDonald House Chicago with Luries Children’s Hospital, performed in Canada, and several college radio stations. I soon found more love for magic than I did broadcast school but still graduated and worked as a cameraman for an independent baseball team, which only lasted about a month.

After college I had time to spend to myself but started professional wrestling but retired after a year because of injury to my back. I soon found out this drew me away from magic and I lost my edge a bit. I practiced for hours and from that I took several gambles. I auditioned for America’s Got Talent, Penn and Teller's Fool Us, traveled across the country, and performed on Fremont Street plus several other Vegas locations.

This is where I am now to bring you excitement and memories that will last forever. When I perform I want you to feel like I did years ago when I saw magic for the first time. No matter how old you are, I hope to fulfill the emotion of childlike wonder to you.
